Williams Family Scholarships

Williams Family Scholarships are merit scholarships for highly qualified students entering Grades 9 or 10 and are awarded to students not currently enrolled at Trinity School. Applications and all accompanying materials are due March 1 for the school year beginning the following August.

In their honor, Williams Family Scholarships have been established and are given to students entering Grades 9 or 10 who are not currently enrolled at Trinity School. These merit scholarships are awarded to students who portray outstanding character, intellect, leadership, and commitment to service.

Q. Do you have to complete an application for the school before you submit the Williams Family Scholarship application?

An Applicant for the Williams Family Scholarship must have completed the standard Trinity Application for Admission and have been accepted into Trinity School.
Q. How much is a Williams Family Scholarship?

The cash value of a Williams Family Scholarship is 50% of Upper School tuition.
Q. Will you be awarded the scholarship every year after you enter Trinity?

The scholarship is an annual grant: scholars can depend on the grant for their Upper School years if they maintain a grade-point average of 3.5 or better.
Q. What is the purpose of the Williams Family Scholarship?

The Williams Family Scholarship is a merit scholarship intended to attract highly qualified students to Trinity School.
Q. How hard is it to get a Williams Family Scholarship?

The Williams Family Scholarship is competitive. An applicant’s track record in the various areas mentioned as criteria is the primary consideration in assessing applicants.
Q. Does financial need play in part in deciding who gets a Williams Family Scholarship?

Little consideration will be given to an applicant’s financial status or need. (An applicant may, of course, apply for additional financial aid through another process.)

Criteria

The Williams Family Scholars Selection Committee is looking for applicants of outstanding character, intellect, leadership, and commitment to service.

A Williams Family Scholar will demonstrate:

High character, including honesty, kindness, and unselfish care for others;
A desire to grow in faith, hope, love, humility, mercy, and justice;
Outstanding scholarship based on a motivation to learn rather than simply make good grades;
A commitment to using his or her God-given talents;
An interest in activities and experiences outside of the classroom;
Dedication to serving the wider community; and
Leadership and service;

The Selection Committee will have these traits and criteria in mind as it reviews applications, reads applicant essays, and interviews finalists.

Application Process

1. Submit Application and Release Forms
Submit these forms to apply to Trinity before March 1:
- Application for Admission to Trinity School
- Release of Records (has to accompany application; parent signature required for release of records from student's previous school)
2. Submit Williams Family Scholarship Form

Submit the form Application for the Williams Family Scholarship, including question responses and essay, before March 1.
3. Selection Committee Assessment

Wykeham Scholars Selection Committee will assess all applications.
4. Announcement of Semi-Finalists

The semi-finalists will be announced. All applicants will be contacted by e-mail and/or telephone.
5. Semi-Finalist Interviews

The Selection Committee will interview semi-finalists on the Trinity Campus.
6. Final Decisions Announced

Finalists will be informed as soon as possible after all interviews are completed.
