Class of 2024

"My favorite aspect of Trinity is that everyone is close like family."

This is my second year attending Trinity School, and my favorite aspect is that everyone is close like family. Every teacher is so nice and has helped me get over having a language barrier when I first came to the United States. I am grateful for the opportunities of All-State Band and the academic training I have received at Trinity School as they are both very helpful for my future college resumes. Many teachers have impacted me greatly. Mr. Kleinbeck and Mrs. Patterson provided me with the help I needed when I was having trouble with English essays and still made their classes very enjoyable. Dr. McHale has taught me life lessons, including to never turn in assignments late, and shows me the fun side of robotics, moving me to join the club! Mr. Holmes has given me the opportunity to try out for, and make, the 6A Region Band, 3A All-State Band last year, and the 4A All-State Jazz Band this year.

This year, Shine achieved 1st Chair 6A All-Region Band and 4A All-State Jazz Band and was one of only five trumpets in all of the 3A/4A schools in the entire state selected for the ensemble. In addition to Mr. Holmes, Trinity School Band Director, Shine studies trumpet under Dr. John Irish at Angelo State University and piano with Shari Santorelli. Shine, originally from Taiwan, studied under Shu Han Yeh, a professor at the National Taiwan Normal University and principal trumpet in the Nation Symphony Orchestra of Taiwan. When he visits Taiwan, Shine enjoys playing duets and trios with his family. He also enjoys math!

Shine recently advanced to the quarter finals for the National trumpet competition and will go to the University of Delaware in late March for the next level of competition.
